Party Night

Well - done and dusted and we had a very successful evening. However, the speaker, a magician, did not turn up. There were no messages from him and Helen event went home to check again and left a message on his answerphone as there was no one at his home - how mysterious! We had heard that there was bad flooding in his area near Yeovil. So although we were a bit worried about him - in the end we were pleased to save the money AND we had such a pleasant evening chatting amongst ourselves - it was so relaxing!! Our meal was delicious and we were waited on hand and foot - just had to clear the tables at the end and wash up some glasses. So our magician was so magical, we didn't even see him!!!

ADDENDUM (he rang with many, many apologies next morning - had to take wife to hospital with broken ankle and in the panic forgot us!!! - offered free visit in the future - to be discussed at committee). Could happen to anyone in an emergency!!!

Our charity collection by an individual member for My Weekly Helping Hands for meals for children in Malawi collected enough from the November and December Meeting to pay for 22 children to have a meal at school for a year - it was really remarkable and a big thank you to all our thoughtful members who, whilst having a lovely meal themselves, thought of those little children who live much more precarious lives in Africa. Will be sent off on Monday. This was intended instead of cards for those who wanted to donated - because of the short notice - some members did both and some did just cards - it was a voluntary collection.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone and thanks for your generosity.
