Belly Dancers visit Binegar

25 members and 2 visitors were present at the February meeting. After news items the entertainment for the evening was introduced - they were four members of the Mendip Belly Babes a local belly dancing troupe. After an exhibition dance more than half the audience joined in and were really surprised when we had another visitor the photographer from the Journal. Once the photo was sorted the troupe taught us enough steps to complete the dance (in our own fashion). We were supplied with special scarves for our hips and the fun began as we shimmied around the hall. Whether we were good or not, the evening was great fun and the music very atmospheric and it certainly helped us to sway our hips!!! Mendip Belly Babes meet every other Friday at Binegar Village Hall contact them on mendip.bellybabes@googlemail.com. After the fun we all had delicious turkish delight (from Wells) as the troupe favour the Turkish style of dancing. (the costumes weren't quite as chilly as this one (snow) but they had the gold coins and scarves etc)

Skittles match dates were given out by Judy G, mahjong continues every other week, walks will be started next month. The quiz was won by Ruth as she was the only one who remembered to bring her answers back - prize a tin of jelly babies to fit in with the evenings theme. Anne C won the bursary for the year. Three internet jokes were enjoyed and the evening was completed with the raffle draw. Next month the meeting is on 17th March when CraftAddix will show us how to do a silk painted hanging circle. Join us 7.45pm at Binegar Village Hall.

Next WI Meeting

Well Ruth has taken this Poster Job seriously - love the one in the Post Office. Our next 'speaker' is a local group of Belly Dancers - the Belly Babes. The snow is melting but it still seems a bit cold for the costumes - bring a long scarf (to wear over your clothes) and flat shoes and join in!!! PS: There might be a surprise visitor - I'll say no more - you can never be sure they will turn up!!!

Heavy snow overnight

Woken at 4.00am'ish - lorry stuck on the road - flashing lights etc. 10.30am cars (4wheel drive) passing slowly - others finding it hard going. WI Committee cancelled as forecast of hard frost tonight - which on top of our present total snow - 10" or more in places would make it dangerous!! Car stuck in yard - try to get it out tomorrow!!! Haven't had this much snow for about 28 years!!! Children all enjoying toboggans!! - but it's not so jolly when you get wet. Snow up to top of wellies and knees in some places!!!
Lovely tonight very clear with stars twinkling - definitely going to be frosty tomorrow!!

Thick snow

4"/5" snow - wonder if the lunch club will still venture out tomorrow? Could be icy first thing!!! The road is certainly quieter than usual!! NB: yes they did go and enjoyed their meal at 'The Stables'. Next meal 5th March at the Railway Inn, Clutton (I think!!).
