Eileen to London Meeting on 'End Violence against Woman' day. Harriet Harman spoke - interesting talk - she has asked WI members to look for adverts in papers and report back to WI HQ who can forward it to her. Have paperwork for the office. Looking for this heading I found one from her ex-husband (not very complimentary!!)
It was good to meet ACWW 'friends' both in the meeting and upstairs in the office when I collected ACWW leaflets. Delighted to meet Priscilla from our 'twin' WI, Dilton Marsh, in Wiltshire. All very rushed and unfortunately missed 2 final speakers as had to catch the train. Understand from two reports last speaker good, another couldn't hear her - so that has cheered me up no end - it must have been very frustrating!!! Excellent lunch. Thanks to Sue Heyes, Weston Zoyland WI, who arranged all travel, theatre, accommodation etc which added to the 'good' feel factor of the trip. Learnt a lot - but could have learnt more if the day had been on time!!! Large cheque required on way home to pay my share - that was a bit daunting!!! Apart from that I only bought a bag of jelly babies for theatre - we saw 'Spamalot' and Monty Python show - very funny - definitely worth a visit.
