Setting the scene

Binegar WI is also part of the Somerset Federation of Womens Institutes. We are a busy WI. We have many events as well as our monthly meeting on the 3rd Tuesday on the month at 7.45pm in the Village Hall.

1. 'Ladies who lunch' club meet one month on the first Tuesday and the 2nd month on the first Thursday. The ladies visit various pubs and restaurants in the area.

2. Book club meets about every 3 months - basically we just exchange books and in that way get to appreciate new authors. Anne keeps a list of who borrows what - so books rarely go astray.

3. Mahjong is played fortnightly - often at Sue's but sometimes at Anne's. There a few casual players - but the main group are very consistant.

4. We go to lots of county outings - this year is the 90th anniversary of Somerset Federation and there are so many events that we have decided not to have a big outing so that we can support as many as we can.

5. N Mendip Group is fairly active although we only have one Group Meeting a year now, two business meetings and various social activities. This year Litton and Hinton Blewitt held the meeting and we had a speaker about the history of cheese and for entertainment a fantastic local musical group.

Other events planned include:
A. A garden party at Litton- all 4 WIs in the group have a job!!!
B. A fish and chip quiz supper at Oakhill
C. A craft day in October at Binegar making Christmas Tree Decorations.
