As a follow-up to the very successful Great Milk Debate event run by County a farm walk was organised. The first had to be cancelled due to farm restrictions (bue tongue at that time I think) but this was a very interesting visit. We saw the fields(what a lovely view from the top field), the cows, 10day old turkeys, calves (one was one day old). Visited farm cottages that have been done up and are now holiday lets - a form of diversication for the farmer. Interesting point, Ruth told us the Kimber family have farmed there for 300 years. All in all, Ruth gave us an excellent afternoon. The well-stocked Farm Shop was also available and many of us were tempted!! As we left we were all given butter and cheese as a gift from Wyke Farms - a special thank you to the WI for their support during the milk crisis - the country wide support had really helped.
